When people ask what Gateway is about, I guess most of all I want them to hear, “community.” In a world where we are being pulled in the opposite direction, Gateway strives for authentic community. I often say that our goal is “healthy, not perfect.” Healthy means you experience the type of community that allows for a place where people can ask questions, talk about faith, stumble, get back up, and find support. And Gateway is a community for all ages.
So, I hope you move from this “virtual lobby” and a casual greeting, to the lobby on a Sunday... it’s where I mostly hang out. You’ll recognize me as the guy with white hair (okay, it happened young) and wearing converse sneakers (Chuck Taylors...and the color changes depending on my mood when I wake up).
Why does Gateway exist?
Since you clicked here, let me do my best to share the passion of Gateway. Here it is: to make a difference “across the street and around the world,” and we do this by following Jesus’ command to “go into all the world and make disciples.”
This passion can be expressed with this one phrase: “Good deeds, good will, good news.” The endgame is to share the Good News; that is, a personal relationship with Jesus.
How do we do that? Good deeds that build good will that opens the doors for the Good News. So, whether it’s serving 4-5,000 meals annually to hungry people, providing warm coats to people of all ages, partnering to end sex trade in Kitsap County, providing solar lights to a village in West Africa, or helping start businesses that will sustain pastors in India, it’s all done in order to share Jesus.
The purpose of Gateway? To make disciples, and that begins with a personal relationship with Jesus. We call it “living the Jesus-centered mission,” and I invite you to join and embrace this passion. Let’s do this together!
I say it this way – “Gateway is a one-agenda church... Jesus!”

At Gateway we believe in, and strive to live from, a biblical (Christian) worldview. This is what guides our teaching, our purpose, and our “going.”
We are God’s creation and designed to be in fellowship with Him and others. God has redeemed the world through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ. We believe in moral absolutes, human dignity, and redemption through faith in Jesus,
We live to “make disciples,” sharing the Good News of the gospel globally, regionally, and locally.
