Basque Country is located in northern Spain. The Basque are a fiercely traditional and proud people. They are self-proclaimed atheists and many mission agencies have tried and failed to establish a foothold in Basque Country.
Each year, we invite Basque high school students to come to the United States for one month in the summer. Learning English is very important to the Basque people because they are involved in many international businesses; therefore the parents are eager to send their students to the United States. We place the students in Christian homes, allowing them to observe these families as they live out their Christian walk. This gives us the opportunity to be missionaries in our own homes. The relationships built each summer are opening many doors into families in Basque Country.
